She's been one of the longest-lasting doctors on the set of ER but from this week County General Hospital will have to live without Dr Kerry Weaver.
In a move fans of the show have long seen coming, the good doctor, played by Laura Innes, has been offered another job at the same time the show needs to make some cuts.But Innes says she might still stay around, this time on the other side of the camera."For the past couple of years I've been doing half-episodes and I have a directing deal with [ER creator] John Wells, so I've been easing off the acting," Innes says.Innes says she would hate to see her character given a sad send-off and would be much happier if she was left an opening for an occasional return."It's awfully hard to leave this show because it's such an incredible joy," she says."I just told them, 'I don't want to be sick or die.' I didn't want to send this message that this woman who had this history of disability and is gay - now we're going to kill her off. I said, 'Let her have a happy end.' "ERWednesday, 8.30pm, Nine
