NEWCASTLE Jockey Club hopes grand old Newcastle warrior County Tyrone will be the "guest of honour" at its meeting tomorrow week.

County Tyrone was due to be retired after yesterday's Newcastle Gold Cup.

"We hope to honour the horse by parading him and having caps made for fans if County Tyrone is still in Newcastle for our meeting Saturday week," NJC chief executive John Curtis said yesterday.

"It is up to the owners if the horse stays in Newcastle for a bit longer, and if he does we will make this a great day to celebrate the career of County Tyrone."
